RT Medical Job Description

Registered Nurses provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness. Please note that this position is for agency staffing support and will be direct at multiple long term care facilities. We are not providing living accommodations at this time.

The role will include:

  • Assessing and monitoring residents' health status.
  • Developing and implementing care plans based on individual needs.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Providing wound care and managing medical equipment.
  • Educating residents and their families on health management.
  • Supervising and coordinating care provided by other healthcare staff.
  • Responding to medical emergencies and providing first aid.
  • Documenting residents' medical histories and progress.
  • Experience in wound care, IV medications and re-sites, catheter care, compression/VAC and ostomy care considered an asset
  • Delegate as required within your scope of practice
  • This role will be direct at a long term care facility

Qualifications

  • Have one of the following qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BScN)
    • Bachelor of Nursing degree (BN)
    • Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience as a visiting nurse, visiting registered nurse, visiting registered practical nurse, and/or community nurse considered an asset
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
  • Excellent problem solving, time management, and crisis resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car. The position requires daily travel of more than 1 hour, so 100% must have a vehicle. Candidates without a vehicle will not be considered.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
  • Submission of proof of two COVID vaccinations
  • TB test completed within 6 months to a year
  • Immunization record
  • Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
  • Mask Fit
